Privacy Policy

In short: the app does not collect, send or sell any of your data. There is no account, no analytics, no telemetry and no advertising. Your chats, images and files stay on your device. This website uses no cookies and no trackers.
1. Who is responsible
ScoutCoders makes AiDesk Helper (the “app”) and runs aideskhelper.com (the “website”). For any privacy question or request, write to scoutcoders@gmail.com.
2. The app
The app works entirely on your device. It talks only to Ollama running on the same device (a local address such as 127.0.0.1); apart from the optional update check below, the app itself does not connect to the internet and does not send anything to us or to anyone else. We never receive your chats, your files or information about how you use the app.
Update check (optional, off by default). If you choose Check for Updates in the app menu, or turn on Check for Updates at Startup, the app downloads a small file (download.aideskhelper.com/latest.json) that names the newest version. The request carries nothing about you, your chats or the version you have; as with any web request, Cloudflare sees your IP address (see section 3). We do not count or log these checks. If a newer version exists, the app only tells you and can open the download in your browser; it never installs anything by itself.
The app stores the following on your device, and only there:
- your conversations and the images you add or generate, in the app’s data folder;
- your settings (model, local engine address, instructions), in the app’s configuration file;
- drafts, the theme and the last opened chat, in the app’s local storage;
- the project folder you choose, if any. The app reads or changes files there only when you ask it to.
This data is not encrypted by the app, so protect your device with your system’s account password and disk encryption. You can delete conversations in the app at any time, and deleting the app’s data folder removes everything it stored.
Ollama and AI models. Ollama is a separate program made by a third party. When you install a model, Ollama downloads it from its own servers; that connection is covered by Ollama’s own privacy policy, not by this one. Answering your questions happens on your device.
Links. Some buttons in the app, such as Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Download Ollama, open a web page in your browser. What happens there is covered by that website’s policy.
3. This website
The website uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party fonts or scripts, and it has no forms or accounts.
It is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., and so is the app download (download.aideskhelper.com). To deliver the pages and the download and protect them against abuse, Cloudflare processes technical data from each visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. We use this only to run and secure the website, based on our legitimate interest in doing so (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), and we do not use it to identify or profile you. SeeCloudflare’s privacy policy.
Download count. When you download the app, we add one to a counter for that day, that file and your country (as reported by Cloudflare). That is all we keep: no IP address, no browser details and nothing that identifies you or links two downloads together. We use the totals only to see how many people download the app. The app itself never reports back: update checks are not counted.
4. When you email us
If you write to us, we use your email address and your message only to answer you, and keep them only as long as needed for that conversation. Our mailbox is provided by Google (Gmail).
5. Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share personal data. We have none from the app to share.
6. Your rights
Under data protection laws such as the GDPR you have the right to ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country. Because the app keeps your data only on your device, you control it directly: we cannot see, export or delete it for you. For anything we do hold (for example an email you sent us), write to scoutcoders@gmail.com.
7. Children
The app and the website are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. If the app ever starts to collect any data, this policy will say so before that version is released.
